ACL Surgery Types

In ACL surgery, the doctor removes the ACL and replaces it with a tendon. The objective is to restore your knee’s stability so that it can become flexible as it was before the injury. 

When a tendon is implanted into your knee, it is called a graft. In an ACL surgery, three different graft types can be used:

Autograft 

A tendon from another part of your body is used like your other knee, hamstring, or thigh.

Allograft

This kind of graft uses an outside source of tissue (for example, a deceased donor).

Synthetic graft 

At this point, synthetic materials are used in place of the tendon. Silk and silver fibers were some of the first ones to be used (in the early part of the 20th century). Teflon and carbon fiber are the most preferred choices, but scientists are still looking for the ideal material to replace ACLs. 

What is the ACL Surgery Procedure?

Doctors use arthroscopic techniques to treat torn ACLs. By doing this, they make small incisions around your knee and introduce a camera along with tiny tools. This procedure is less painful and leaves fewer skin scars than open-knee surgery.

The entire process lasts for around an hour. The patient could receive a regional anesthetic, in which the doctor injects drugs into the patient’s back to temporarily numb their legs for a few hours. In general anesthesia, the patient is given some medications in order to put them to sleep throughout the procedure. 

The first step is to place the graft in the right position. The doctor will then drill two “tunnels” or holes and implant grafts one above and one below the knee. To hold the graft in place, screws will be placed in the tunnels. As you recover, it acts as a sort of bridge on which a new ligament will form. The new ACL may take a couple of months or more to grow. 

Most patients are able to return home the same day after surgery. The doctor will advise you to rest your knee, keep your leg off the ground, and wear a brace to safeguard the joint. However, researchers are also working with physicians to determine whether a new approach to ACL surgery is more effective than standard care. 

BEAR or Bridge-Enhanced ACL surgery, as compared to traditional ACL surgery, allows the injured ACL to heal without the need for replacement. In this procedure, the doctor inserts a special tiny sponge into the patient’s knee between the torn ACLs. Then, they inject the sponge and stitch the torn ends of the ACL. It serves as a support for ACL. The ACL eventually heals and regenerates into healthy ACL tissue.

Are there any risks associated with ACL surgery?

As with any other type of surgery, ACL surgery may cause some undesired risks, like infection, trouble breathing, bleeding at the wound, or anesthesia reactions. Besides, the risk may also include knee stiffness, a graft not healing well, or pain in the knee. However, these signs heal with time. Is ACL Surgery always necessary?

People can get entry passes on the “Chandigarh Tourism App” for the Indian Air Force show to be held at Sukhna Lake on October 6 and 8, which was launched today by UT Advisor Dharam Pal.

This show will include advance fighters, transport aircraft, helicopters and Suryakiran aerobatics team.

How To Register For Chandigarh Air Show

The Indian Air Force is fully prepared for this event and for the booking you have to follow the given steps.

1. Firstly, visit the Official App of Chandigarh Tourism.

2. Once you install the mobile app, you have to do the registration if you are first time user or you can do login if you are an existing one.

3. After registering or signing up, tap on the events section.

4. Then, select “Chandigarh Air Show” event.

5. Now, click on the “Obtain Entry Pass” option.

6. Select Date as per your wish. You can only choose one day out of 6th Oct & 8th Oct.

7. Further, select the Alighting point from where you will board the shuttle bus.

8. Fill in your details and add another attendee. Only 2 persons can be added from one mobile number.

9. Tap on the “Perform Payment”. Total Rs 40 (for you and the another attendee) to be paid.

10. Choose the payment option and complete the process to obtain your entry pass.

Mandatory Guidelines For the Chandigarh Air Show

The Indian Air Force and Chandigarh Administration have taken all the important aspects for the convenience of everyone and all the measures have been taken place for the visitors on the sukhna lake.

• Firstly, you must bring a valid photo ID proof along with the entry pass. Without these, you will not be allowed to enter.
• Secondly, there will be earmarked parking spaces across the city where people with the bookings will be asked to come and park their vehicles.
• Then, show the QR code issued on the entry pass while boarding the shuttle bus.
• And from there, buses will take them to their designated locations at Sukhna Lake
• Buses will bring them back to the designated parking areas after the show concludes.
• The shuttle service to not be allowed after 2 pm.
• The air shows will be open on both the days for general public.
• Expecting the heavy rush the department has made a limited seats of approx. 30 thousands on 6th October.
• And on the 8th October, there will be more restrictions.

The university on Monday suspended two wardens for negligence and also declared holidays till September 24.

Further, it formed a joint committee comprising students and senior functionaries to address certain issues pertaining to hostel timings and other demands of the students, sources in the varsity said.

What Did Mohali Police Said About The Protest 

“They (students) ended their protest at around 1:30 am,” Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Vivek Sheel Soni said.

He told reporters that a special investigation team headed by a senior police officer will be formed to probe the case. An FIR under Section 354-C (voyeurism) of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act has been registered in the matter and further probe is on, police said.

Chandigarh University To Remain Shut Till 24 Sept 

The university will be closed till 24 September, and two wardens have been suspended for negligence over the matter. On Sunday, the police had confirmed that they had arrested three suspects in the case.

• 3 people – a girl student of the varsity and two men – have been held so far in the matter amid huge public anger.
• A third accused was held on Sunday night in the case – a 31-year-old man from Shimla. This was after a 22-year-old girl student and her 23-year-old friend were held.
• No suicide attempts took place.
• A couple of girls fainted that are in good health now.
• CM Mann ordered a high-level probe for the case.
