Frequently touted as one of the most happening places in chandigarh, today I’ll be reviewing the very famous Peddlers 35. A personal favorite, I consider this place as the daddy of all the pubs in town. It is one of the oldest bar/pub in Chandigarh and as they say Old is Gold. Situated in the basement, the interiors resemble that of every tavern they show in English sitcoms.
The bar is fully stocked most of the times and the cocktails are heavenly- especially the long island iced tea and pina colada. They also hold live sports screening at times so if you’re a sports fan then it is the perfect place to catch up on a match with your friends while drowning yourself in beer or whatever it is that you prefer. *hehe* The only downside is that alcohol is a little expensive but they have a 1+1 offer on some of the drinks so it makes more sense to order those specific drinks for a pocket friendly experience.

When it comes to food, Peddlers 35 preparation is quite nice and even the most basic dishes have a different and ingenious touch to them. I got fan of their pizzas especially the piri-piri pizza..sigh! pure bliss. They have a variety of cuisines to offer including Italian, Mexican, Indian and continental so there is a lot to choose from. I will not say that the food experience is out of the world or anything but it’s pretty decent.
Live Band at Peddlers
Coming to the highlight of Peddlers 35, the live band performances in the evening are electrifying and induces a whole different level of energy and craziness in this place. Be it a Monday or Saturday, the music will never disappoint you as they have the best bands playing all 7 days of the week. Once the band starts playing, it is quite impossible to have a conversation so only visit in the evening if you are in a mood to party because there are people dancing everywhere as soon as they are into their third or fourth song.
The only thing lacking in this place is S-P-A-C-E as it gets congested as soon as it gets a little crowded. Every inch of the area is occupied by people either sitting or standing or for that matter even dancing so it’s always better to make a reservation in advance especially on Saturday to avoid inconvenience and if you’re one of those who just likes to party without caring two hoots about seating then just grab a drink from the bar counter and dance away to glory.

A great place to chill with friends. I give it 4 stars and 2 out of those 4 stars are purely for the mind-boggling live music experience they offer.

According to the health officials, the fresh guideline has been issued for the hospitals after the detection of the disease. The victim runs a tea stall and is a resident of Sector 32. Another victim who found positive for this disease a six-month-old girl of Sector 35 has been admitted to a private hospital and investigation revealed that the baby’s mother had a travel history.
Last month Chandigarh go the first swine flu case of the season and in this case, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl tested positive at GMCH. Doctors said if cold, cough and high fever persists for more than 48 hours, then a diagnosis for swine flu must be carried out and immediate treatment started.
The Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Vijay Goel announced that soon in Chandigarh the Sports Authority of India will come up with the SAI’s 11th regional centre in India. Mr Vijay Goel said they will soon be laid the foundation stone of the centre. After the wait of 4 long years, at last, it is going to happen soon. This will be the Sai’s 11th regional centre in India and fourth in the region after Patiala, Sonepat and Lucknow. The 15-acre centre will be built near the Airport Road in Zirakpur.
On October 16, 2013, it was announced that in Chandigarh the Sai Centre will be building but after that, there was no further action was taken regarding this. But last month that was June funds were received by the local SAI office. The SAI Regional Centre will be built in Zirakpur and it will cater to players from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh.
The area decided for this Centre is the 15-acre plot and also money has sanctioned for the first phase. For the first phase around 13 crores has been announced. The first phase will include facilities for football, athletics, administrative block and slowly. Mr Goel also added that they will introduce facilities for indoor sports also.
According to the centre officials due to the Launch of GST, there is some delay in the further action but now they will soon be laid the foundation stone for the SAI’s 11th centre near Zirkpur. They also said that they have received the funds and the foundation stone will be laid by the Honourable Union sports minister soon. Goel shared the Centre’s plans to provide Rs 5 lakh scholarships to 1,000 athletes per year and recently and also added that the central government also took a decision to combine all the school national games.

Coming October travellers would be able to travel to Chandigarh to Delhi in Satabadi Express but it will be non-operational on Wednesday. Ambala division railway manager Dinesh Kumar confirmed that the new timetable would be introduced in the month October and also all the instructions would be implemented in this month only. Kumar also added that they will also add trains on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana stretch and to the Chandigarh-Dapper route. He said the electricity department has delayed the work and because of this, it will be delayed from the Month Of September.
According to the sources, rails would start functioning only after the Commission of Railway Safety gives a go-ahead after an inspection. The Ambala division has already submitted the project for cutting down travelling time of Shatabdi trains after the rail tracks are added. The speed of the trains would be increased from 110Km/hour to 130km/hour with the addition of track.
The Chandigarh Administration has decided that they will make City Beautiful cashless and for this, they will introduce cashless transactions. They have announced that from next month there will be no acceptance of money above 2000 at any Chandigarh e-sampark centers for payment. So, this is to inform all residents of Chandigarh that from August 2017 there will be no payment above Rs. 2000 will be acceptable via cash.

In Chandigarh to provide various services, there are around 18 e-sampark centers, 11 e-sampark kiosks, and 14 gram sampark centres. The e-sampark centres handle issuing birth and death certificates, online and offline payment of electricity, water and sewerage bills, booking of tube wells for irrigation, open-space and community hall bookings, tax payments, deposit of value-added tax (VAT), e-filling of VAT returns, sale of stamp papers and stamps, sale and receipt of Chandigarh Housing Board forms. These are the various works that are handled by these centers and to make them cashless there will no payment with cash above Rs. 2000 from next month.

It is informed that 18% GST will be added to the online payments. This is the another addition to the sufferings of the common man because if they will opt online payment then they have to pay extra money as service tax. People of Chandigarh can pay their bills online but for online payment at e-sampark centres, they have to pay GST. Online payment can help them to save their precious time and also help them to not standing in long queues for making payment. But to save tax they have to stand in long queues. They can make payments through demand drafts and with cheques to save extra bucks that they have to pay in online payment. People who will pay with debit or credit cards at e-sampark centers will not be charged any extra amount of tax.
