    A Student Stalking Professor Of IGNOU From 2 years

    Teachers stalking by the students reach to such an extent that in some cases teacher has to even resign. A case of stalking the teacher by former student came in the limelight where an assistant professor at Indira Gandhi National Open University has complained that her former student was stalking her from the last two years. Many times she warned him but her warning and other things she did to stop him were in vain. At last, she went to the Police station to seek the help and lodged a complaint against him.

    According to her, a person named Sukhwinder Singh was in Diploma in Meat Technology program and As an academic counsellor, she conducted three sessions in the School of Agriculture, IGNOU. After that, he started sending her emails and those emails were not related to academics and were full of malicious content. She said this was very torturous for her. The professor said that she warned him many times and after nine months of his stalking he gave an undertaking in writing to the Director, School of Agriculture in August 2016 that he would not repeat his act.

    He also accepted everything he did to her that included objectionable, abusing emails and messages and promised to not repeat the same. According to her this January she again got an email from an ID made in her name and also he made her fake Facebook ID and added her photographs which looked like the screenshots of the teleconferences she took part in. He is also talking to her friends and maligning her reputation. The accused has been arrested and The investigation officer told that a charge sheet has been filed in the case. The accused is still in the custody as nobody came forward for his bail.

    Indian National Lok Dal Protest On The Issue Of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal| Security Tightened

    Haryana is facing protest because of the issue of Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. Indian National Lok Dal began this protest today by blocking roads, including in Ambala and Sirsa districts, disrupting the movement of vehicles entering Haryana from Punjab. Activists are gathering on the Ambala-Delhi National Highway. This protest is led by senior leaders of Indian National Lok Dal and they all are gathering to Ambala and Sirsa districts which lie close to the state’s border with Punjab. According to officials, traffic diversions have been affected at various points in view of the protest.

    Protesters are protesting by placing tires, some of them come with their own vehicles and also parked them on the roads and some are with their tractors and this is causing inconvenience to many commuters. They are not allowing Punjab buses to enter Haryana. Punjab’s Pepsu Road Transport Corporation and Punjab Roadway has decided that they will not ply its Haryana and Delhi-bound buses. The Indian National Lok Dal is holding a protest at many points from 9 am to 3 pm, including in Lalru-Chandigarh Road, Ambala-Shambhu border, Narwana-Dhanauri, Ratia-Budlahada road (Jakhal point) in Fatehabad district and Dabwali on Haryana-Punjab border.

    According to the protesters, they will protest in a peaceful way and they do not feel anything against Punjab. But they only want their share of water and that is the reason they are protesting in various places. They also said that they are waiting for their shares from last 50 years. But according to the Punjab, they do not have enough water to share with Haryana. Currently, protesters said they are giving flowers to people but they want immediate announcement on getting the SYL canal constructed from the center or state Government and warned that the “situation in the state may turn bad” if they fail to do so.

    Chandigarh Sector 44 Theft: Thieves Tried To Destroy CCTV Footage

    In Chandigarh Sector 44 thieves stole around Rs. 22000 and medicines from Ayurvedic medicine shop. To hide their identity they threw the digital video recorder (DVR) connected to the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras into the water. Nowadays such cases are coming to limelight where thieves are trying to outsmart the police by harming CCTV cameras from the crime spot because they know that this can conceal their identity. Till now it is not clear that how many people were involved in the crime.

     

    This theft occurs at Vardhan Ayurvedic and Herbal Medicines Private Limited, Sector 44 and people know about the theft in the morning when its staff member opened the door of the shop. When he came to know about the theft he immediately informed the Police at around 9 am. They entered the shop after opening the door leading to the roof. They broke the hinges of an internal door while locks of the main door were found intact. To hide their identity they tried to damage the DVR cameras by throwing them in water. Previously, in the case of theft in Sai Baba temple in the Sector 29, Chandigarh thieves painted the CCTV cameras and many more cases came to limelight where thieves tried to harm CCTV cameras.

    Thieves stole around 22000, medicines and four mobile phones. According to the Police, Thieves had full knowledge about the places where CCTV was installed and that’s the reason they turned the position of the CCTVs and also tried to destroy DVR. Police said they are trying to retrieve the CCTV footage but it will take some time because DVR was found in water.

    Three Youngsters From The Global Shapers Chandigarh Hub Head to Shape North America

    The Summit Shape North America 2017″ jointly organised by Global Shapers Ottawa and Toronto hub, is a 5-day event which will start from July 12. In this event around 20 countries are participating and focus of this event is to bring together people of World Economic Forum Global Shapers from around the world. Our youngsters from Tricity are also going to represent Chandigarh in the Summit to learn how technologies used abroad can be implemented in Chandigarh to make it smarter.

    These three youngsters from Chandigarh will represent their club, the Global Shapers Chandigarh Hub in the event. Besides representing the city on the international platform, the youngsters will also deliver dialogues on issues related to pluralism, clean and green, innovation and artificial intelligence.

    About The Event:

    It is a great honour that three youngsters from Tri-City will go and represent our country on the big international platform and they will also learn in this summit how they can implement different technologies of abroad in Chandigarh to make it a smarter city. There are some points discussed this event below:

    • Around 20 countries are going to take part in this event. Three youngsters from the Tricity, Amanveer Singh, Simarpreet Singh and Pritika Mehta will represent their club, the Global Shapers Chandigarh Hub in this 5-day event that will start from 12 July.
    • The event will aim at connecting representatives from various hubs of Global Shapers from around the world with tangible networks, the capital.
    • This is done to magnify the impact in four policy priorities: North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Women in Business, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence and Clean Growth.

    When Pritika Mehta, one of the youngsters that are going to represent their club, the Global Shapers Chandigarh Hub asked about the event then she told that she understands that in the 20th-century technology is the part of life and for advancements, we have to learn different things. She will talk about artificial intelligence and she added to meet international standards, she said it is important to teach youths about the new techniques. Chandigarh will organise its second Ted Talk in January 2018. Simarpreet is the curator of TEDx Chandigarh.

    Other speakers present in the event will be Yasir Naqvi, minister of justice and attorney general of Ontario and head of North America Paul Smyke.  Amanveer Singh, vice-curator, Chandigarh Hub after coming from he will try using new methods in the advancement of the education system of the city. He also said they will educate youngsters through workshops held every month.

    According to a report from a private company that the municipal corporation (MC) had hired under the smart city project city needs around 6,000 more street lights, a system for monitoring the thefts and other crime. The firm has submitted its detailed report to the engineering department of the civic body and they have also told about the problems that are of the existing street lights of the city. It says that around 4,000 street lights are required in green belts and parks alone.

    Problems Related To Street Light  In Chandigarh:

    In the City Beautiful many lights are not working and to illuminate the city work will soon start. To remove all the black spots from the city around 6,000 street lights will be included. There are non-functional lights and overgrown trees have compounded the problem of poor lighting. There are over 48,000 street lights across the city. Some of them are with the MC and the rest of the engineering department of the administration. Some problems related to street lights are:

    • Bulbs are not working in around 11,000 street lights
    • Over 3,000 poles are covered by trees and around 2,000 are without bulbs
    • The junction box of around 10,000 poles is missing

    To illuminate the city properly the company will now start work on the project in collaboration with the municipal corporation. The electrical wing is also needed for some work and for this they will start a tender soon.

    Punjab cabinet has approved the new transport policy and this is done to streamline the issuance of permits and licences across commercial and private transport vehicles. This will help to check on the illegally plying buses and cabinet has decided that they will weed out all the illegal buses as soon as possible.Punjab Approved New Transport Policy To Maintain System

    What Is Included In New Transport Policy:

    The cabinet has taken this desicion to hire special task force to keep their eyes on the illegal things happening in trasport system. The state government will take care about the public and seek a time period of three months from the court to implement the scheme in phased manner.  After this scheme implenemtation some strict action will be taken and that will include:

    • Permits of 5,432 buses indulging in extension/diversion of routes and another 6,700 minibuses, will be cancelled and allotted afresh.
    • If the number of eligible applications received for a particular route is more than the number of permits, lots will be drawn to allot permits.
    • For private operators there will be no more than 25% permits will be issued for one person.
    • Permits issued under this scheme will be valid for a period of five years from the date of issue.
    • After renewal permits will be valid for next five years.

    The state government to control the illegal actions will gradually increase the state transport undertakings’ share in luxury bus service and take it under the control of the state.  After the implementation of the scheme government will try to end the private mafia control over these high-revenue bus routes.

    • Free education for girls in government schools and colleges from Nursery to Ph.D.
    • Availability of government schools from the next academic session.

    • Reintroduction of Nursery and LKG classes in the Government schools.
    • Students will get free Wi-FI.
    • A pilot project to promote English in schools.schools.
    • Five new colleges would be set up in the state during this fiscal year.

    According to 2011 census report, the literacy rate in Punjab is 75.84% and female literacy percentage is 70.73%.     People of Chandigarh will soon miss the street shopping and other street food like momos, golgappa, even the shopping of Jewellery at their favourite place sector 17 and Other sectors like 19 and 22 that are also known for their cheap clothes and cheap food will have the same fate as Sector 17 soon because UT Administration along with the Municipal Corporation will now declare these places as No-vending zones.

    Sectors 17, 19 and 22 are famous sectors in Chandigarh and they are known for the shopping. Some people go there to shopping purpose and some only to mooch around the market. Sector 19 and 22 are cheap markets and people can buy clothes of every style by paying fewer expenses there.  But soon people would not see any rehri in these markets because they are included in no-vending zones. After this other Sector including 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 23, 36, 54 and 46 will be included in no-vending Zone. MC did the survey under street vendor Act, 2014 in July 2016 and decided that they will make Chandigarh No-vending zone.

    Vendors Have To Pay Vending Fee 

    There are chances available for those who can pay vending charges to the authorities otherwise they have to change their place as soon as they can because These places will include the no-vending zone. For people who can pay the charges have to pay Rs 2000 per month for selling non-essential products and the products that are included in essential products like cycle repair and barbers have to deposit Rs. 1500 per month to Municipal Corporation. People have to take this serious because anyone found to offend this decision will be penalised. MC will do the time to time inspection there and penalized the offenders.
