    First Day First Show:

    Occupancy rate in every hall was above 90% in most of the cinema halls and here is the detail about it. In Fun Cinemas Republic Mall and PVR North Country Mall first show was at 8am. And the occupancy rate was 96% and 65%, respectively. At Rajhans Cinemas, Panchkula, and Carnival Paras Mall boasted an occupancy of 90% and 75%, and their first show timing was 9 AM. The Wave City Emporium Mall had its first showing at 9.20am with 83% occupancy. Piccadily Square and INOX N-22 Mall, Amravati Enclave with 100% and 50% bookings, respectively. The 10 am show at PVR Elante, PVR Centra and PVR DT City Centra had sold out 98%, 95%, and 93% seats, respectively. Tricity people were really waiting for this season of Bahubali that the reason they were behaving like early birds. 28 of this month was very excited for the residents here because of Bahubali season 2 and because of the IPL match. Yesterday there was the first match of IPL in Mohali PCA stadium and people were excited to see the match also.

    An elderly citizen of Chandigarh got an email on behalf of terror group Al Qaeda that scared him so much because that email issued a death threat to him. He was afraid and because of that he went to police to register a FIR, but police were dilly-dallying over registering it.

    About Death Threat:

    In February 2016 PS Sawhney from Chandigarh got an Email from terror group Al Qaeda and they demanded $8,000 to spare his life. According to the Hindustan times report it was written in the Email “As you can see we are the members of the Deadly Networks in the world, which is responsible for the bombing of twin towers in America on Sept. 11th and the bombing of London transport services on July 7th (AL-QAEDA NETWORKS WORLDWIDE), I don’t have any business with you, my duty as I am mailing you now is just to KILL you and I been paid for that (sic).”  “…my boys are really on you but I told them not to kill you that I will like to contact you and see if your life is important to you and […] your family. I called my client back and ask him for your email address which I didn’t tell him what I wanted to do with it and he gave it to me and I am using it to contact you now… Now, do you want to LIVE OR DIE? (sic)”

    Police was dilly-dallying in registering his FIR

    They also warned him for not approach police and told him through email that doesn’t come out of your home after 8 Pm because his boys are after him and his life including his family member is in danger. He was so afraid of it and he approached police, but police response was not satisfactory so he approached a high court and argued that it was mandatory for the police to register a FIR since it was a cognizable offense. He also said that this matter should be handled by CBI as police were not serious about the matter.

    Reasons behind accidents:

    As police have listed 15 spots as dangerous sites in Chandigarh, areas that are more prone to accident and they told about the reasons for accidents.

    • Overspeeding
    • Human error and negligence for accidents
    • Red light jumping
    • Triple riding
    • Driving without helmets and seat belt that leads to fatal accidents

    Accident Prone Areas In Chandigarh:

    According to the UT police survey, there are 15 accident prone areas in the city where commuters need to drive with caution. In 2016, around 144 people lost their lives in accidents and in 2015 around 124 people were died and  292 were injured across the city. Police records reveal that in 2016, a total of 25 people lost their lives at accident-prone areas, whereas 57 were injured. In 2015, a total of 15 people were killed at these accident-prone areas. According to the reports mostly two-wheeler riders got killed in these areas. List of black spots of Chandigarh:

    No coordination within departments

    There is no coordination among different departments of the UT administration to ensure road safety. According to the police, they sent more than 100 proposals to the engineering department and MC of Chandigarh regarding the required changes that can help to lessen the accidents. Police said that there is a requirement of improvement in road infrastructure but no one is serious about the matter and that’s the reason that accident cases are increasing.

    In summers mosquito is the most annoying pest that troubles us very much and causes many serious diseases like malaria and dengue. A single mosquito bite can spread these diseases, which can cause fever, chills, nausea, and in some cases death. But now UT Administration is planning to make Chandigarh Malaria free by 2018, their new target is to make city free from malaria and they are going to take some strict actions that will help in eradication.UT Administration is planning to make Chandigarh Malaria Free By 2018

    Steps to make city malaria free:

    Strict surveillance: Around 100 people will be deployed for strict surveillance and they will check every house in the city. They will also check the mosquitos breeding sites.

    Awareness campaign: Information education activities will be organized in school colonies and high-risk areas. Also, they will take help of short films to spread awareness of the disease.

    Targeting migratory population: According to the reports, most of the cases reported in the migratory population who bring a disease from their hometowns. So main focus will be on the migratory population.

    A Nodal officer in every UT department: A nodal officer will be appointed in every UT departments and that officer will ensure about the mosquitos breeding around that area.

    Notified disease: All private and government health department will inform nodal officer about a new case of malaria.

    Helpline number: The helpline number is 9779558282 and people can call on this number for taking more information about the disease and also tell about mosquito breeding spots.

    Rules For Prevention of Malaria:

    UT health department is planning to amend the rules for the prevention and to control malaria, dengue, 2014, and they are going to make laws more strict. Presently, the challan fees for the defaulters is only Rs 500 but they are going to increase it by June this year. The department is all set to take stern actions against the defaulters and will seal the places where mosquito breeding is found positive.

    Crime in Tricity is increasing and daily news of rape, stalking, and harassment is coming to limelight. Here in Tricity for the protection of girls, there are helpline numbers. It is good that there are such numbers where we can call when we are feeling some threat. But if no one is responding when a girl or women need help or if cops are coming late then there is no use of such numbers. 

    Recently the civil hospital’s one-stop crisis center has found out that the police stations and helpline for women have delayed and inadequate response. These lukewarm responses are the reason of increasing crime in the city. if police will not get strict action against criminals then how they will stop the crime and how they will provide protection to women. Police stations and helpline should provide proper services at the time of need, otherwise, there is no use these services.

    Lukewarm response from helpline numbers:

    • An official from the center said that not police and helpline take the call seriously.
    • The cops either come over late or ask you to send a complaint.
      The helpline teams don’t respond properly,” an official from the center said.
    • According to the center counselor that on 11 April they called the police to a take statement of a woman who was victim and police came four hours late.
    • The police stations are failed to prevent crime because of their lukewarm response. The women’s and child development department outsourced the helpline number but police is not managing it properly
    • According to the center’s report cops and helpline operators do nothing only pass the buck.

    Counselor reports to CJM:

    The counselor listed seven cases, in which she called 1091 helpline number and not get any response. The CJM forwarded her complaint to the civil and police administration. After this Police confirmed that there would be no lukewarm responses and police will deploy a woman cop at the center and also quicken their responses.

    Threatening and harassing girl:

    A man named Jatinder Singh of age 34 is from Mohali’s Phase XI fell in one-sided love and was proposing her from last one year but she was continuously refusing his proposal, but he wanted to marry her in any way. So he started chasing her and stalking her on phone. When she blocked him, he managed to get phone numbers of her office colleagues and continued harassing her.

    Threw acid on girl’s two Wheeler:

    The accused who was in Uk and returned here in 2016 only is the son of small scale industry owner in Chandigarh. Jatinder Singh also allegedly involved in throwing acid on girls scooter which was parked outside her residence in sector 39, according to the police. A case has been already registered in the 39 sector police station. The girl also blamed that accused even assaulted me in December last year but due to family relations, she was unable to lodge the police complaint. But after he threw acid on scooter family was afraid of dire consequences and at last, they took police help. The accused was saying that he did not use acid but threw paint remover on the scooter but Police did not buy his theory and damaged two-wheeler sent for forensic examination to CFSL in Sector 36. After forensic examination, it will be cleared that what he used to threw on girl’s two wheeler.

In last year when he visited the Rock garden accompanied with Anuj Saini who is the son of curator of Rock Garden Nek Chand and at that time Badnore was very curious to see all structures created with all waste material and directed UT Engineering Wing to prepare the place for putting up of such sculptures in Raj Bhawan. Bandore is very impressed with the idea and creation of the curator, so he wants to see all the famous colorful sculptures in Raj Bhawan.

    Mini Replica Will Include:

    • Mr. Saini who is the landscaper and a member of the Rock Garden Society, designing the mini-rock garden in Rajbhawan.
    • UT has also identified a place to install all the sculpture on the left side while entering the main gate of Raj Bhawan.
    • All the famous sculptures of the garden will be installed at Raj Bhawan
    • The plan is to install sculptures of ducks, peacocks, dogs, wolves and deer.
    • Sculptures that they are going to install will be made of concrete, steel reinforcement, and waste material.

    The Cost For Mini Replica:

    The rock garden that always gives us a message that how can we get best from all waste things and its colorful sculptures give everyone a feeling of peace or tranquility. Now UT administration is ready to replicate it in Raj Bhawan and cost decided to spend on this project is Rs 14.25 Lakh. Anuj Saini, son of Nek Chand who created Rock Garden, had held a meeting with the administrator and prepared a design for the mini replica. This idea of UT administration is welcomed by all and soon Rajbhawan will get the mini replica of Rock garden in the entrance. Such places can give inspiration to everyone to work out one’s imagination.

A new case of a 15-year-old girl Chandigarh Girl Used As Sex Slave By Her Aunt For 3 years, Rescued her aunt was using her as a sex slave from three years in Karnal, Haryana. But now after three years, she has rescued by members of the Chandigarh child-line after a distant relative gave the information about the girl’s plight. Now, police have sent her to the safe shelter in the city.

    Her Torturous Journey:

    According to the child line counselors, girls parents have died and she was living with here elder brother in Chandigarh. In 2014 her aunt came and promised to look after the girl and then she shifted her to karnal. But her aunts told her to stay in her grown up son’s room and that boy forced her to have a sexual relationship with him. She was given pills for not getting pregnant but after having pills she got pregnant and then she has gone through an abortion. After this, her aunt forced her to have sex all other persons who came to their home.

    How She Rescued:

    A girl said that her aunt brought her back to Chandigarh many times and her aim was to take away jewelry, cash and other belongings she had kept with her brother. Last week she again came bak to Chandigarh then her family realized that girl was not happy. Everyone was asking her and quizzing her after which she told her story that what is happening to her from last three years. After that, her relatives registered a FIR  under the protection of children from sexual offenses (POCSO) act. According to Col Bedi all medical examination has done and now police have sent her to the safe shelter. Child welfare committee representative Neil Robert said that the case will be forward to the Haryana police for further action.

    After VP Badnore recommendation to the Union home ministry, Chandigarh is likely to get its first woman senior superintendent of Police  (SSP). IPS officer Jagdale Nilabari Vijay presently posted as Ropar SSP. Name of Nilambari Vijay, who is 2008-Batch officer is included in the list of three officers that were received from the Punjab Government. Other two officers in the list are S Bhoopati and he is 2007 batch IPS officer and Naveen Singla who is 2009 batch officer.

    On April 5, the UT Administration had received a panel of officers which included the names of Jagdale Nilambari Vijay, S Bhoopati and Inderbir Singh. However, Inderbir’s name was dropped from the panel because he was involved in the case in which he was extorting money from farmers and also he threatened them that he will implicate them in a murder case.

But there is also the involvement of girls who need a lavish life. Organizers have settings with police and this is making them easy to get girls in 500 to 5000 Rs. To control this in Chandigarh, Administration should have some strict actions, otherwise, it will be uncontrolled.
