Born In 1975

Major companies are going to launch the pilot project to change in the Petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis. Oil companies that going to bring this dynamic model including Indian Oil Corp(IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL). Under this dynamic model of pricing, both companies and customers will be benefited and this is done by changing of petrol and diesel price according to global oil prices. Change in petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis done from may.

The dynamic model of pricing includes:
- State fuel retailers currently revise rates on fortnight basis on dates 1st and 16th of every month. It is based on the currency exchange rate and on the average international price of the fuel in preceding fortnight.
- Rates of Petrol and Diesel will be changed on the basis of daily movement in international oil prices instead of fortnightly average.
- Major oil companies will start this project in five places and these places are Puducherry, Vizag in Andhra Pradesh, Udaipur in Rajasthan, Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and in Chandigarh.
- After studying implications of the first pilot, oil companies extend it to the other parts of the country.
- This change in petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis will benefits to both companies and customers because this will reduce the price risk arising out of fluctuations in crude.
Rates only differ by a few paise between pumps like Unbranded petrol at IOC pumps in Delhi costs Rs 66.29 per liter, at BPCL pumps in the city is priced at Rs 66.37 a liter and at HPCL pumps sell for Rs 66.48 per liter.

Chairman of IOC Mr. Ashok said that it is easy to change prices on a daily basis but firstly they will do a pilot in 5 decided places and then after studying implications they will extend it to the other parts. He also said Pilot to change in petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis is going to launched within the month. He has not told about any specific date, but sources said it could be launched on May 1.

This girl escaped from rape by jumping from the moving car.

Crime sight:

This incident occurred at night in Phase 8, Industrial Area, when a girl working in a local industry took a lift from her friend named Suresh. He is working in a marketing firm. At around, 8 PM he offered a lift to the victim and she trusted him because he was her friend. But she did not have any idea of his bad intentions. The accused person is a local from Mohali. According to the reports that person came with his Swift Dzire and then he took her to the isolated place.

How she escaped:

The victim is from the Himachal and she came here for the job. The girl escaped from rape by jumped off the moving car to save her modesty. A doctor working in a private hospital picked her from the road and then took her to the civil hospital. The girl was not seriously injured, minor scratches and bruises were there. Accused is absconded and police are trying to search him.

Protest in Panjab University on Fee Hike Turned Ugly

A fee hike triggered protest in Panjab University; students wanted immediate roll back in the fee. They also wanted a direct conversation on fee hike with the V-C, and when they were not called for discussion, they forcibly tried to reach him.

The protest turned violent when students clashed with Police. Police did lathi charge on students and in retaliation for lathi, students pelted stones on the police and this lead to the violent situation. Many students, police, and journalist injured in the protest.

The steep fee hike sparked the students protest in PU. There was hike of 12.5% in the fees for next session and according to the students it is a massive hike. Students coming from weaker sections cannot afford this. This caused tensed situation among the students and they started protesting and demanding immediate rollback of the fee hike. Vice chancellor Arun Kumar Grover announced part time jobs to calm the students during the students protest in PU.
