Open Land Area In Chandigarh Declined And Left Only 8%

City Beautiful is known for its beautiful architecture, greenery and the parks. But according to the recent reports, Chandigarh is getting crowdy day by day because of the urbanisation. In 2000 there was around 32% open land but now only 8% open land left because of increasing urban area. Decreasing Open Land Area In Chandigarh is really the matter of concern.

Punjab Engineering Student Did The Study:

The fourth year BE student at Punjab Engineering College did a study and found some of the remote sensing satellite images. These images were showing that Open Land Area In Chandigarh is declining because of the construction of roads and buildings and their percentage has increased more than 50 percent over the last 15 years. In this study, there is the comparison of four satellite images of Chandigarh that were taken in 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015. These images were differentiated with the help of software and then they studied various geographical aspects from these images. PEC civil engineer Professor Amrit Singh Sandhu, who guided the study, says that the Chandigarh Administration should stop increasing encroachments in the city and give few project approvals.

What Changes Occurred Here In 15 years:

    • After 2000 lots of construction occurred here and this led to the decline in the open area. In 2000 the open area in the city was 32% but now only 8% is left.
    • Many housing projects were completed in this time and most of the construction of housing projects has done in the southern sectors of 48, 51 and 63.
    • To transform the Chandigarh new shopping complexes constructed here in the industrial area.
    • The construction of a new ISBT in Sector 43 for the urbanisation of the city but this led to declining open area in City.
    • According to the Prof. Amrit Singh Sandhu, Chandigarh Administration should not give approvals to development projects easily because this thing can create water and electricity shortage in the future.

    What Are The Experts View:

According to the former architect of Chandigarh Sumit Kaur, there is no threat and there is no need to take any strict action. She also added that there is a master plan and they also assured that the city will not face a crisis of any kind until 2031. This plan will help to avoid any type of problems related to electricity and water in City Beautiful. She said that Administration is concerned about the city and they are approving only those projects that can increase the beauty and greenery of the city. She also adds that it is mandatory to fit solar pannels on all houses and building rooftops, occupying plots larger than 500 yards.

  • Chandigarh’s Job Seekers Are Facing Discrimination And Has Domicile Setback

Chandigarh’s Job Seekers Are Facing Discrimination And Has Domicile Setback

In Chandigarh, residents find themselves in a disadvantaged situation as compared to their counterparts residing in Punjab and Haryana because of the discrimination in oppurtunities that they are getting. City residents are disappointed because Punjab and Haryana people can apply for jobs in Chandigarh as well as their respective states, but Chandigarh residents are unable to do so because they are asked to produce a domicile certificate of the respective state. Chandigarh’s Job Seekers Are Facing Discrimination And Has Domicile Setback.

What Is The Reason Behind Their Dissapointment:

According to the residents of Chandigarh they have fewer chances to apply for government jobs because, With a limited number of jobs offer in government departments of Chandigarh Administration and they have to face another problem that is because of the their counterparts residing in Punjab and Haryana, who can easily apply for the jobs in Chandigarh but city residents are not that privilaged to apply in Haryana and Punjab. According to the Punjab Reorganization Act, Chandigarh is the joint capital of both Haryana and Punjab states, making their residents eligible to get jobs in Chandigarh.

But when Chandigarh residents apply for jobs in Haryana and Punjab, they are asked to produce a domicile certificate of the respective state. At present, a large number of people hailing from these two states are working in different departments of Chandigarh Administration. In the ongoing recruitment of Chandigarh police, a majority of applicants are from these states.

According to the Rakesh Kumar, convener of coordination committee of government and MC employees residents of Chandigarh should be allowed to seek jobs in Punjab and Haryana. They are being deprived of their right. Member of Parliament Kirron Kher is also working on this issue and she has taken up the issues but state govermnets of Punjab and Haryana did not respond yet. On May 20, Kher had expressed her displeasure over the same at a meeting with Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar during the visit of BJP national president Amit Shah.

Firstly Chandigarh Has to Stop Considering Students From Punjab and Haryana Outsider:

According to MLA Balbir Singh, Chandigarh always consider students fro Punjab and Haryana outsiders. He also added that Chandigarh Adminstration should first fill the jobs in a ratio of 60:40 because in Chandigarh institutions there are only 15% seats are available for the students of other states and other 85% for the students of Chandigarh only. So, if Chgandigarh people wants to take job in Punjab, the Adminstration has to consider students from Punjab as their own not as outsider. It has to be reciprocal.

Chemist Shops In Chandigarh Will Be Closed On May 30 Except Shops Inside Hospitals

600 chemist shops in Chandigarh are going to close on Tuesday and this is because of the all-India protest against the Government. This protest is going to take place due to the online sale of medicines. On protest day medical shops only inside hospitals will be open. There are around 20 shops inside city based hospitals only that will be open on Tuesday.

    Chemist Shops In Chandigarh

According to the president, Chandigarh Chemists’ Association quality of medicines can be compromised because of online sale of medicines and also there are not any check on sale of spurious drugs or those medicines which have to be sold strictly by prescription.

    Sale of drug Online:

    • According to Chandigarh Chemist Association, online sales of medicines can create some problems and that can be related to quality. They were saying that quality of medicines can be compromised due online sale of medicines.
    • Another problem can be the sale of spurious drugs or those medicines which have to be sold strictly only by prescription.

Sub- Committee Was Formed To Prevent Issue Of Drugs:

To avoid some problems related to the online sale of drugs, drugs controller general of India formed a sub-committee last year. This committee helps to examine the issue of regulating online sale of drugs under the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. This committee gives some recommendations to solve the problems related to the online sale of drugs.

    • The committee recommended that a registry of pharmacies be made available.
    • To prevent the sale of spurious drugs or medicines which have to be provided strictly by prescription, a logo for identifying the authenticity of the e-pharmacy can be displayed on every page of the internet portal and mobile application, the panel suggested.
    • Various stakeholders have recommended launch of a national portal at the central level to route all online transactions and e-prescriptions through it.
    • Existing wholesalers and retailers can be registered here. To prevent the sale of spurious medicine, the online sale shall only be allowed through this national portal.
    • The sub-committee recommended that the online portal discloses complete transaction details to the licensing authority on request.
    • The health ministry held many discussions with stakeholders and prepared a regulatory mechanism to ensure patients are benefitted by the online portal.

Why This Pharmacy Portal Is Made:

This Pharmacy portal was made for the benefits for chronic, elderly patients living in nuclear families and patients who are not in a condition to go out to find a pharmacy. But chemist is not in favour of this and that is the reason for their protest. According to the chemists, they have compelled the government to reconsider disadvantages and they have been working on revising the proposal. They also said that this new system wants all transactions to be monitored from manufacturers to retailers. The retailers need to scan the prescription, upload them and sell the medicines. This is not possible in an emergency sale of medicines

A number of missing girls from Chandigarh is increasing every year. This is the serious issue that needed an immediate attention.

No one is taking serious action against the safety of these innocent children and because of that number is increasing. A number of girls are more and this should be improved as soon as possible.

    Records of past five years:

If you look at the records of past five years you will get to know that around 203 children up to the age of 18 years are missing/kidnapped and of these 143 are girls. This can show that how much safe girls are in the City Beautiful. This is because of police that is always so reluctant and because of that missing children are untraceable. If we talk about current data, a 17-year-old girl from Manimajra has been missing since March 3 and still remains untraceable. Police are unable to search her.

year Total Girls % Of Girls

According to the Police often, children, especially girls, leave the house on their own. The reasons they have given to leave their houses are it could be either owing to a conflict with the parents or even love affair. Most of the girls that are missing belong to the middle-class families. Police always register the cases under Section 363(kidnapping) and 366-A (procreation of minor girl) of the IPC. But at the end, they don’t give any results and girls are still untraceable.
