Now Punjab is going to get its new cricket stadium in Mullanpur and this is going to develop by Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) and location for this stadium is near Mohali in Mullanpur that is also known as new Chandigarh. This project would be completed in 2020 as construction has already started.

The IS Bindra PCA Stadium in Mohali is one of the best stadiums in the country but the major problem associated with this stadium is the lack of proper parking facilities as the stadium is located in a residential area in Mohali but this new stadium will come up with new facilities.

How New Cricket Stadium In Mullanpur Will Be Different From The PCA

PCA stadium in Mohali was built in 1992 and it has a major problem of proper parking. It is located near the residential colony and this causes many problems to residents during any match. There are some new things that are going to include in the new stadium and that will make it different from the existing one.
- According to the project planning, it would be ready by 2020 and it will be world class stadium.
- In comparison with PCA stadium it is going to be three times bigger than PCA, Mohali and area decided for it is 40 acres of land.
- A new stadium will be coming up with a seating capacity of 38,000 people whereas at PCA stadium Mohali seating capacity is nearly 27,000.
- Existing PCA stadium lacks sub-surface drainage system that will be included in the New stadium in Mullanpur. The sub-surface drainage will dry the stadium within 30 minutes.
- The first Floor will have independent players Pavillion and there is also provision for corporate Pavillion.
- To make it environmental friendly it will include rainwater harvesting system and solar panels.
- New Stadium will be disabled friendly and there will be sixteen gates in Mullanpur stadium.
Cost Decided For The Construction Of New Stadium

The new stadium will be constructed in two phases and the total cost for the construction for the first phase of the stadium is approximately Rs 150 crore. Firstly the first phase will be completed and after the completion, the ground will be ready to host the matches.

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) Is Planning To Cut Around 500 Trees In Mohali
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) is planning to cut around 500 trees to widened roads to 150 feet. Innocent trees would be sacrificed for the construction purpose. But GMADA is doing this to improve the connectivity of Mohali with other regions of the city.

This project of GMADA examined on the various parameters of cost and benefit and it is found that the construction of the 150-ft-wide road will be done in sectors 117, 118, 119. This project will benefit the local community. The file has been sent to the government for approval. Officials said that they will issue the notices for land acquisition. The social-economic impact report has also been submitted to the government and the analysis reports about the axing of around 500 trees for the project.

The compensation for the fruit-bearing trees will be decided by the department of forests and the payout for the timber trees will be fixed by the department of horticulture.

UT Electricity Department Has Decided To Cut Down The Extra Charges & Know More About The Changes
Chandigarh people have a good news because UT electricity department has decided to cut down the extra charges by 18%. This news will surely give some relief to residents because regular tarriff is going to reduce from 80 p to 65p for the people using units between 0 to 150. The UT electricity department also has cut the FFPCA (Fuel and Power purchase cost adjustment) charges which were added on a per unit basis.

Residents can have sigh of relief because department announced that this will be effective from May 1 to July 31, from this present finacial quarter.

Changes That Can Bring Sigh Of Relief Among Residents:
- The UT electricity department has planned to reduce the extra charges by 18%.
- The UT electricity department has decided to reduce FPPCA (Fuel and Power purchase cost adjustment) charges for both domestic and commercial consumers.
- Fuel and power purchase cost adjustment (FPPCA) reduced from 80p to 65p for domestic consumers using between 0 and 150 units.
- For the domestic category for 151-400 units the FPPCA (Fuel and Power purchase cost adjustment) charges have been reduced to Rs. 1.21 from Rs. 1.48
- For more than 400 units charges of Rs. 1.28 have been reduced from Rs. 1.56. The electricity bill for the domestic category is generated after every two months in Chandigarh.
- For the commercial category, it will be reduced to Rs. 1.24 from Rs. 1.51 for 0-150 units.
- The charges for 151-400 units have been reduced to Rs. 1.38 from Rs. 1.68. But for commercial category the electricity bill is generated every month.
- For large supply connections, Fuel and Power purchase cost adjustment charges reduced to Rs. 1.56 from Rs. 1.91 per unit and for small connections reduced to Rs. 1.30 from Rs. 2.32 per unit.
- There is no changes made in Agriculture category.
What Problems Residents Were Facing Regarding FPPCA

From past one year residents were facing problems and objecting about the FPPCA as its formula for calculation is complex and residents wanted to replace the same with a fixed surcharge. Residents told about their problem during the public hearing session held by JERC in March. To address the problem, department has roped in NIELIT to develop a software for online calculation of FPPCA.
Chandigarh Education Department Has Planned to Recruit JBT Teachers in 2017

Chandigarh education department is trying to overcome the shortage of JBT teachers because around 213 teachers on deputation under Sarva Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) resigned and these all teachers moved to the Haryana.

This is the reason of UT Education Department has planned to recruit 100+ teachers and this will occur on a massive scale to avoid any type of inconvenience to the students of government schools of Chandigarh. They are recruiting teachers for smooth functioning and this will help students to continue their studies.

Positions that would be vacant in coming Months:

The department has planned to begin the hiring process in June because of around 200 teachers on deputation resigning and opting to join their parent state Haryana for regular jobs. Now the government schools across the city are facing the problem because of the resignation of JBT teachers. The department was hiring teachers under SSA earlier but now they are going to start hiring under the education department cadre. This recruitment process will start and will be completed by the next month. According to the Department officials If there would be need of more teachers, they will call for more teachers from the state on deputation. According to sources, more than 400 posts will get vacant under the SSA JBT in the coming months.

What is the reason behind the resignation of teachers:

Many teachers on the temporary basis got the chance to resign when Last month the Haryana government gave regular jobs to the teachers on deputation in their nearby districts. The teachers who resigned were not happy because SSA scheme who hired them on deputation were failed to deliver them the promise of provision of regular employment opportunities. That was the reason they grab the opportunity given by Haryana Government by resigning from their jobs for their professional growth.

Six teachers have resigned from the Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS) in Sector 10-A, while three teachers quit from the Government Model Senior Secondary School in Maloya.
UT Government Is Going To Introduce Facial Recognition System In Chandigarh Colleges

Chandigarh Government has come with facial recognition system to check the absenteeism of the staff in colleges. The government got strict with the faculty members, administrative staff of government colleges and going to introduce this system. These machines will take the place of the biometric attendance system which scaned only fingerprints of the staff and these new facial recognition machines will scan fingerprints, iris and face.

Why This Facial Recognition System Is Going To Be Installed

UT government has decided that they will introduce the facial recognition attendence system in Government colleges that will help to check the absent staff. The other reason for installing this system in place of biometric attendance system is the complaints of staff members regarding biometric systems. A lot of staff members said that biometric systems failed to accept their thumb impression and they faced problem in marking their attendance. So these new machines would surely help teachers with attendance. The Postgraduate Government College (PGGC), Sector 11, claims to be the first in the city to have installed these machines. According to the College principle, it is for the convenience of teachers.

Some Teachers In Chandigarh Are Against the Decision

Many teachers from Chandigarh colleges are welcoming this decision of UT with appreciation and taking this decision as a good initiative. Some teachers who are against the proxy attendance are also happy that now those teachers will not be able to mark proxy attendance. But there are other teachers according to them this is not at all a good move and they said that it is unfair to sit in the college for five hours just to mark attendance twice after five hour’s duty. They also complained that sometimes teachers get free before time but because of this system, we will not be able to go before time because we have to mark attendance twice after 5 hours of duty.

According to the Sources in government, colleges said the new biometric system is not being implemented to all teachers because there are some physically challenged and visually impaired teachers also. These teachers are exempted from marking attendance on the machines twice.
Chandigarh is Going To Get Smart Parking Soon
City beautiful is going to get smart parking soon and Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh already started technical bids for this project. After one year of delaying finally this project shifts a gear. In Chandigarh number of vehicle increasing tremendously and due to this residents are facing many problems like People are unable to get a parking space in a parking lot and due to this parking attendants are charging more from the people. But now administration came up with a solution of smart parking.

Smart parking project includes:
- This project will include 25 paid parking lots and one multi-level parking in Sector 17. This is the part that will be turned into smart parking lots under the project.
- In this smart parking project, there will be the Android platform that will provide information about parking to the public and also provide real-time data access.
- Pass system based smart card will be there and you will get facilities to recharge the cards at every parking lot and monthly smart-parking cards system is also included in the smart parking project.
- There will be no manual ticketing in any circumstance. Boom barriers will be preferred in the new parking lots.
- In smart parking system advertisements will be allowed only on one side of the smart card and behind the parking slips issued by the new contractor.
- The contractor will ensure that smart parking solution should functional in next one month otherwise 1000 Rs penalty would be charged.
What about charges:

According to the parking project rates of the smart parking are proposed on an hourly basis for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, commercial vehicles, heavy vehicles, etc. According to the proposal, the charges for this ongoing financial year for a two-wheeler will start from Rs 5 and go up to Rs 25 and for a four-wheeler, it will be from Rs 10 to Rs 50. But these rates will not be same for next year it will be enhanced for next year. MC said that they want to provide best facilities to the residents that are the reason they are working on this project.

Chandigarh that has been known as city beautiful in India, placed 11^th in a survey of “Swachh Survekshan Survey” 2017. This time there is a steep decline in ranking from 2^nd place to 11^th place. In last survey city beautiful got 2^nd place in the list of cleanest cities of India.
