Panjab University to start MDS Courses in Chandigarh at South Campus

The Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences at South Campus of Panjab University to start MDS Courses in Chandigarh. The Union Ministry of Health and welfare has given the permission to start six specialty courses at the Dental Institute of Panjab University.

The six specialties approved are Periodontology, Orthodontics, Dentofacial Orthopedics, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics and crown bridges, conservative dentistry and endodontics, and oral pathology and microbiology.

Each specialty will have three seats each except oral and maxillofacial surgery which will have two seats in all the institute will carry out admission for 17 seats. The institute has collaborated with Government Medical College Hospital Sector 32 Chandigarh for training in advance surgical purposes.

Presently the Institute only offers Bachelor in Dental surgery BDS which is five-year course. The fee structure for the Master’s course is approximately 4.5 lakh which amounts to be 68 lakh for 17 seats per annum. Panjab University shall generate a revenue of 2 crores after the admissions.

The admissions are to be held in April and the admission form will be available on official website. Starting MDS courses in Chandigarh will be a boon for BDS doctors. All the BDS doctors will get more opportunity to develop and become specialized doctors. Panjab University to start MDS Courses in Chandigarh for the betterment of the society to have healthy teeth.
Phoenix an IT Fest at GGDSD College Chandigarh

The Department of Information Technology, GGDSD College wrapped up with an I.T Fest on 22nd March 2017 Phoenix. The festival was a high profile event which attracted students from colleges in and around Chandigarh to compete on big scale and showcase their talent.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mr.Jitender Yadav, Director of higher education and Director of IT and UT Administration.Guest of honour was Mr.Mandeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Excise and Tax Department of India and MR.Rajeev Sharma who is presently Deputy General Manager, Central Bank Of India.

The Guest Appearance for the event was made by “Harp Farmer” who is a famous Punjabi model for the promotions of his upcoming movie KAWELA which is going to release on 31 March 2K17.

“THE LANDERS” Famous Punjabi singer were also witnessed along with their team and it was a great site of attraction for audience dance to the beats of their famous song like JAIL FAIL and much more.

RJ Abhimanyu from 92.7 my FM also performed in the event and it was a proud moment for all the SDians as he is the alumni of our college.The audience was full of excitement and enthusiasm.

Various Inter College Events also took place like Collage making, Rangoli Competition, IT Presentation, Algahna (Singing), fixit (IT Debugging), Counter Strike (Go) and on stage events like Bhangra Competition etc also took place. The interesting fact about the events was that the names given to the performances were innovative like tweek, twitter, cloud etc.

Modeling also took place on the basis of which Mr and Miss Phoenix were chosen. MR.PHOENIX was Vishwas Rajpal and MISS.PHOENIX was Himani. Infomaths Quiz also took place between students of different colleges and the winners were awarded trophies.

The first college in the city to achieve A+ grade by NAAC: SD College Chandigarh
GGDSD College, popularly knows as SD College Chandigarh, is the most prestigious institute in the city for education has attained A+ grade by NAAC this year. SD College is the first Institute in Chandigarh to accomplish this level of accreditation. A peer team of NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) came to the college to assess the college’s capability. Three member NAAC team visited the college campus on January 30-31 for assessing and grading the college.

This was the third cycle of institutional assessment of SD College Chandigarh and a meeting was held on February 22 to announce the grade. Though the college has gained A+ but still have some more suggestions where the college can work and prosper more.

Area to work on for the college
- The NAAC pointed out that there are limited post-graduation courses in the college.
- Many of the positions are filled on a temporary basis.
- The workload on the teachers is more.
- College needs to work on research and industrial linkages.
- NAAC recommended introducing new innovative courses in the college.
The SD College should work on attaining an autonomous status by consulting all the stakeholders. The college witnessed an elevation of 37 points in the score given by NAAC team and taking the college from A to A+. In the last few years, the college had worked hard to gather everything and live up to this level. The college has undergone complete automation and is a paper free campus.

What to do after Graduation – Career Option or Courses after Bcom-BBA

All the final year students from commerce background must be wondering what after B.com or BBA. Once you finish your exams everybody seems to worry about your future plans. In today’s world there is a lot of competition, a graduate degree is not enough to lead a good future.

Masters in Commerce (M.com)

Chartered Accountants (CA)

One of the most common career opted by the students of commerce field. CA exams are conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) and requires one to clear 3 Examinations over the period of time that are CPT, IPCC and Final CA. After clearing one group the student is supposed to register for articleship with experienced CA’s for two and half years. Final CA again has two groups and after clearing both the groups, you can proudly affix the words CA before your name.

Banking & Insurance

Several students move towards Banking and Insurance sectors after completed their graduation. The students appear for the banking and insurance exams for government or private jobs. Students clearing the entrance exams are eligible for the working in these sectors.

Law

To pursue law the students opt for LLB to become lawyer or legal Advisor. Admission to LLB courses is through entrances exams as specified by different institutes.

Entrepreneurship

Students wanting to work on their own and have great business planning ability within them can pursue Diploma courses in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. You can start small scale business you can work as a sole entrepreneur as you know lots of things of the business.
