Haryana’s first and the country’s second dog park has been set up at the Mansa Devi Complex in Sector 4 here at a cost of Rs 45 lakh. Pet parks are common in foreign countries, but in India, we only had one such in Hyderabad and now this will be the second dog park in Panchkula, Haryana.

Only 213 pet dogs in Panchkula city were registered with the Municipal Corporation. The civic body has assigned duties to four employees to visit the park and public places in the city and get pet dogs registered. Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said the dog registration fee was fixed at Rs 500. The owners of unregistered pets have to pay Rs 500 as fine. He said the fine amount would be increased to Rs 2,000 in the next MC House meeting.

Through registration, dogs can be protected by getting them vaccinated for rabies by a certified veterinary practitioner and maintaining the vaccination record is a must, MC commissioner said.
The UT MC has warned citizens of action if they fail to register their dogs. They clarified that if the owners do not pay attention to this, they might have to loose their dog to Chandigarh MC. Apart from this, the Commissioner appealed to dog owners to vaccinate their pets for rabies as well.

Chandigarh Police, Traffic Department launched new portable night speed radars. With the help of night speed radar guns, speeding during late evening and night hours will be curbed, which will help in reducing road crashes. Soon, challans will also be issued through these night speed radars. Police officials believe that the night vision radars to check speeding would instill a sense of fear among people. And they would then drive within the permissible limit even after dusk. And which would ultimately reduce the probability of road mishaps occurring at night.
Lesser number of cops and empty roads encourages many motorists to press accelerators, which leads to road disasters. In 2018, 92.72% mishaps occurred due to speeding and rash driving.

Chandigarh Golf Club has been designed by 4-time Open Championship winner, Peter Thomson (golfer). and is an 18-hole course which is spread across almost 7,202 yards. Set against the backdrop of Shivalik hills, it makes for a fitting course for people in the city who love golfing and haven’t been able to get membership to a particular club.

During late 1959, Pandit Nehru, the first PM of Free India wanted to visit Chandigarh. His visit was postponed as the chief commissioner that time went on a golfing holiday to Delhi. Pandit Nehri being highly surprised that ” people have to travel to Delhi to play Golf, why can’t Chandigarh have Chandigarh have its own Golf Course?” This is how a golf course came into existence in Chandigarh.
Established in 1969, the Chandigarh Golf Club is among the most premier ones in India. The Golf Club in Chandigarh is also home to one of the longest par-5s in India, the seventh hole, which measures 613 yards. The master plan was predicted by the famous French architect, Le Corbusier and the foundation stone for the club was laid by Sh. Dharam Vira on April 24th, 1969. The place shares boundaries with the popular Sukhna Lake and the Punjab & Haryana governors residents in the beautiful sector 6 of Chandigarh.
