    New Portable Night Speed Radars to Take on Speed Demons At Night in Chandigarh

    Taking a step further to check speeding in the city during night hours, the Chandigarh traffic police has introduced night speed radars. They would not only act as a barrier to violators, but will also help in lessening road accidents caused due to the violation during late hours. Shortly, challans will also issued to the violators through these radars.

    Chandigarh Police, Traffic Department launched new portable night speed radars. With the help of night speed radar guns, speeding during late evening and night hours will be curbed, which will help in reducing road crashes. Soon, challans will also be issued through these night speed radars. Police officials believe that the night vision radars to check speeding would instill a sense of fear among people. And they would then drive within the permissible limit even after dusk. And which would ultimately reduce the probability of road mishaps occurring at night.

    Lesser number of cops and empty roads encourages many motorists to press accelerators, which leads to road disasters. In 2018, 92.72% mishaps occurred due to speeding and rash driving.

    Police authorities said the night vision speed guns have a capacity to trace the speed limit of vehicles from 3km, are fitted with camera. Also, it can take a picture from a distance of 300 meters. Moreover, another important feature is that they can capture the image of a two-wheeler rider not wearing a helmet.

    Furthermore, the Chandigarh traffic police have a total of 12 speed radar guns, out of which 9 can only be used during daylight.

    Apart from this, special stickers for differently abled persons are also launched. They will be affixed on the front and rear windscreen of their vehicles.

    Covid Vaccination for Children: Chandigarh Allocates 9 Health Facilities for Covid Jab for Kids in 15-18 Year Age Group

    The UT health department allocated some schools and hospitals to start vaccinating kids between 15-18 years of age. According to the latest guidelines issued by the ministry of health and family welfare, PGI to start giving Covid vaccination for children in their Advanced Pediatric Center.

    Covid Guidelines For Children

    Chandigarh will have health facilities allocated for vaccinating children. Initially, they started with 6 centers and then increased to 9. However, they will grow as there are 72,000 eligible children between 15-18 years. The centers, including the PGI and the GMCH, Sector 32, will attempt to vaccinate at least 200 children each daily.

    Dr VK Nagpal, Joint Director, Health Services, said, “We are fully geared up for the vaccination beginning tomorrow and many children have registered for the first dose.     Number of Doses To Be Given

    First and foremost, the children will receive 2 doses of Cowaxin at an interval of 28 days within their muscle.

    Where to Register

    Secondly, parents can register their children on the Cowin Application using the Aadhar Card.

    Prescribed Protocol

    Thirdly, protocol of 30-minute observation after vaccination will be imposed for children. As a precaution, ambulances will be present with each vaccination center. Additionally, two beds have been reserved in the pediatric care ward of the GMCH to take care in case of any post-vaccination issues.

    Children to Visit Only Allocated Vaccine Center

    Lastly, teams involved in the doorstep vaccination will not carry out Covid vaccination of children. The eligible children are required either to visit the dedicated vaccination center in the specified health facilities or in camps at schools.

    Booster Shots

    Guidelines for booster shots are yet to be issued on January 10 by the UT Admin.

    Chandigarh Latest Covid Guidelines: Only Fully-Vaccinated Allowed in Hotels/Restaurants With 50% Capacity

    Considering a hike in the Covid-19 cases, the Chandigarh administration announced fresh set of COVID Guidelines. As per the new guidelines, hotels, bars, restaurants, public places in Chandigarh will only allow Fully-Vaccinated to enter. Besides this, there will be a limit on the number of people entering, thereby allowing 50% capacity will be allowed to enter any building. Most importantly, owners and operators will be fined with Rs 5,000 if they violate these rules.

    Furthermore, according to the Chandigarh New Covid Guidelines, the administration announced a cap on wedding guests as the Omicron variant brought a fresh surge of COVID cases in the country.

    The orders were earlier proposed on Friday by the UT administration in its meeting led by Adviser Dharam Pal. However, they will be implemented from today, January 1. Additionally, the Admin issued guidelines regarding people wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and limiting gatherings.

    Further, Sukhna Lake will remain closed on every Sunday as per the new Covid Guidelines. All the activities including Boating will be closed except from 5:00 Am to 9:00 Am and from 6:00 Pm to 8:00 Pm from Monday to Saturday, with effect from 3rd January, 2022.

    In the latest order issued by the State Disaster Management Authority, UT Chandigarh. It says that “Restaurants, hotels, cafes, eateries, marriage palaces and banquet halls in Chandigarh will now open with 50% capacity”.

    Announcing the election schedule on Monday, state election commissioner SK Srivastava said the results of the Chandigarh MC elections 2021 will be declared on December 27; model code of conduct comes into force.     The city is all set for a three-cornered contest as the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) goes to the polls on December 24. Announcing the election schedule on Monday, state election commissioner SK Srivastava said the results will be declared on December 27.

    The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections are scheduled to be held on December 24.

    The polling will start at 7:30 am and conclude at 5 pm.

    Keeping the recent sharp increase in the number of COVID cases, State Government Himachal Pradesh issued new COVID guidelines and SOPs.

    COVID Negative Report is now mandatory for Himachal Travel.

    Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in the advisory made on Sunday announced that from now it is mandatory for people coming from seven states which are witnessing a surge in coronavirus cases to show a COVID-19 negative test report on entering the state.

    Making the announcement, state Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said

    People coming from Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh need to carry a negative RT-PCR report not earlier than 72 hours while visiting Himachal Pradesh from April 16.

    He made the announcement while presiding over a meeting with senior officers to review the coronavirus situation in the state.

    The Himachal Pradesh government has already closed all educational institutions till April 21 and restricted gatherings at marriage ceremonies to 50 people indoors and with a maximum of 200 for outdoors. Besides, only 50 people have been allowed to attend funerals

    No Langars are allowed.

    Devotees are allowed to visit temples in the state during Navratri festival, but holding ‘langars’, ‘bhandaras’ and ‘jagran’ has been completely banned, he said. Thakur said the laxity shown by people has resulted in a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the state.

Senior citizens aged above 60 years and elderly aged 45 with comorbidities can get themselves registered to get vaccinated.

    Important things to note…

    1. There is no CoWIN app on the PlayStore for registration as the app is for administrators only. 
    2. The registrations opened at 9 AM on March 1 and will be open till 3 PM every day. The availability of slots nearby to get vaccinated is subject to availability.

    Follow these simple steps for registration:

    1. Citizens can go to http://www.cowin.gov.in to register themselves or via the Aarogya Setu app, which has CoWIN app integration. 
    2. Download the Aarogya Setu app from the play store or visit the Cowin.gov.in website from your desktop.
    3. Enter your mobile number and click on the OTP (One Time Password). Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and click on the verify button.

    3. If you are registering for the person with Comorbidities. Click yes, when they ask ‘Do you have any comorbidities (pre-existing medical conditions)’. People age between 45 years to 60 years will need to carry a medical certificate when they go for the appointment. Once registered, a confirmation message will be sent to the registered mobile number.

    The Registration and Licensing Authority, Chandigarh, is going for stricter implementation of mandatory high-security registration plates (HSRPs) and third registration marks (color-coded stickers) on all old and new vehicles registered in the city.

    From March, the RLA will ask the police to impose a fine of 3,000 and 5,000 on two- and four-wheelers, respectively, found in violation. As of now, the deadline of February 28 has been set only for CH01BK and BL series. To prevent any rush, staggered enforcement will be followed for other series.

    Things to you should know…

    • For vehicles registered after the introduction of dealer-point vehicle registration in 2019, the RC was not issued without an HSRP. But, for vehicles registered earlier, there was a lack of uniformity in number plates
    • Owners of vehicles with numbers in CH01BK and CH01BL series can apply for affixing HSRP and third registration mark at the RLA office in Sector 17 by February 28 as per the procedure available on the website chdtransport.gov.in
    • For vehicles in CH01BM to BT series, too, owners can apply at the RLA office, though no deadline has been set. Similarly, owners of vehicles in other old or existing series can apply at the RLA office or the SDM (south) office at the Sports Complex in Sector 42 or the SDM (east) office at the CTU Workshop in Industrial Area, Phase 1.
    • The replacement of an existing registration plate can be done only after ensuring that the old plate has been surrendered and destroyed on the office premises.

    Yesterday Harayana’s CM Khattar inaugurated India’s first-ever Air Taxi service from Chandigarh to Hisar.

    The first flight of this air taxi was flagged off from Chandigarh to the newly constructed Hisar airport, under the UDAN Scheme – Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik. The distance from Chandigarh to Hisar will be covered by 45 minutes.

    In the 2nd phase, services for Hisar to Dehradun will be started on 18 January. In the 3rd phase, two more routes from Chandigarh to Dehradun and Hisar to Dharamshala will be added on 23 January. The company also plans to include Shimla, Kullu, and more Haryana routes,” said Harayana’s CM Khattar.
