Haunted Places in Chandigarh – Spookiest of all

• Chandigarh Railway Guesthouse

Many people have had some weird experiences while their stay at the guest house of Chandigarh railway station. Some of them have even experienced some paranormal activity while their stay at the place.

• Sector 16 Haunted House

This is one of the most famous haunted places in the city. There is a house in sector 16 that is said to be haunted by the spirit of a girl who had committed suicide there. The residents of that area have different versions of stories to tell about the incident.

• Dagshai Graveyard

Dagshai graveyard is on the outskirts of the city and is situated on Chandigarh Simla road. Many travellers have said that they have seen spirits at this spot.

• Haunted Bridge

The haunted bridge at the Sector 23 to sector 16 road beholds another dark secret. It is said that a girl was hit by a car at that bridge two decades back. Many people have seen a girl dressed in white clothes at the bridge who they said disappeared suddenly.

• Cremation Ground

Well, this is one of the most obvious haunted places in the city. It is located in sector 25 and the residents of the nearby area have experienced many paranormal activities.

• Sukhna Lake

The very beautiful Sukhna lake too is included in the most haunted places list of the city. Suicide point, as the name itself is indicative of its story, has made the lake a scary place for the visitors. It is also not allowed to visit this place at night.

• Savitri Bai Phule Hostel – PU

This hostel at the Panjab University is said to be haunted by the spirit of a student who had committed suicide here. The students residing in the hostel have had many spooky experiences, inspite of it, the authorities have taken no measures to provide relief to the students.

• PGI Chandigarh

There is a place in this famous hospital where numerous aborted fetuses have been stored in jars and many have experienced paranormal activities at that place.

• Sati Mandir

The Sati temple located at sector 39 is said to be built in remmemberence of a lady who became a Sati. It is said that anybody who bows down in front of this temple is then haunted by the spirit.

• Panjab University

The garden area near the law department is another haunted spot inside the university campus where many students have had spooky experiences and the place is also deserted by the bats and birds at night.

Although it’s not an unmapped place, but still it remains invariably unexplored. Team #TCB decided to ring in its new year at Jabli, and we were not let down.

Here’s a brief review of team #TCB’s visit at Savoy Greens, Jabli.

Savoy Greens Jabli Review – A small Xanadu

It is 40 km away from Chandigarh, however, it takes a little over one hour to reach it since the route is common for Kasauli/Shimla as well, so it’s better to keep a margin.

The route from Chandigarh to Jabli is truly a feast for the eyes and you can halt and click plenty pictures while you’re on your way. At Jabli, we chose Savoy Greens to visit among few other eateries. It is an idyllic retreat, just perfect for a casual getaway, be it with your family, friends or just you when craving for some quiet.

The temperature here is moderately cold in Winters, not too chilling normally. Savoy Greens is a nexus of various eateries ranging from Continental to South Indian food including McDonald’s, Domino’s, Chawla’s and a few others.

Zen Garden here is a pure delight, located beside a small torrent, where you can sit and enjoy the serene view while you much away the snacks.

To culminate, I would say, this place befits a casual hangout with friends and family or a weekend visit would be perfect which can be savored without having to shell out much from your pocket.

Chandigarh to Goa Flight: City Beautiful to be connected with five more cities

Currently, there are 24 domestic flights that are operating from the Chandigarh International Airport connecting it to different parts of the country and two international flights to Dubai and Sharjah had started in September 2016 by Indigo Airlines and Air India Express respectively. It is being said that Pune, Goa, Hyderabad, Leh and Chennai will be soon connected to Chandigarh as the work for commencing the flights for these routes has already begun.

Furthermore, Dutt said that the authority believes that the traffic from Chandigarh itself is quite massive and thus international flights will also be launched soon.

Making it more convenient for the Chandigarhians Dutt said, “We are expecting to start flights to Singapore and Bangkok from next year from Chandigarh”. Air India is also in talks with the Union Ministry for starting a combo flight from Chandigarh to London via Delhi.

As this year is coming to a close, we charted out a yearly synopsis of highlights of the city beautiful for the year 2016.

Chandigarh 2016 Highlights that are worth a mention – Have a look! –

Capitol Complex – UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another feather has been added to the hat! The city now boasts the newly received status of UNESCO World Heritage Site for its acclaimed ‘Le Corbusier Capitol Complex’. The building spreads over an area of 100 acres (approx) and mainly comprises of three structures including a lake; High Court, Open Hand Monument and the Palace of Assembly.

International Yoga Day. The International Yoga Day 2016 was celebrated at the Capitol Complex Chandigarh on June 20. PM Narendra Modi attended the event and participated as well. A total of 30000 participants attended the event out of which 10000 participants were from Chandigarh.

Smart City. Chandigarh received the stature of ‘smart city’ in 2016. However, it has not been untroubled as it was on a second consideration that the city was included in the list of the smart cities of India. When the first list of the ‘Smart Cities of India’ was released, Chandigarh was found nowhere on it which came as a heavy blow for its citizens.

CNG PNG Connections. Compressed Natural Gas and the Pipelined Natural Gas will now be available in many of the sectors in Chandigarh. The administration has decided to extend the service to the EWS group first. The citizens can also opt-out of the service if they wish to.

GPS Mapping. GPS Mapping will be done in Chandigarh very soon under the ‘Conclusive Land Titling System’. This will benefit the Chandigarhians greatly.

Cashless Chandigarh. The Chandigarh administration is vying to make the City Beautiful the first cashless city of the nation, in the backdrop of the demonetisation policy of the Modi-led government. The efforts are in full swing and it is expected that Chandigarh will soon achieve the status of being a cashless city of the country.

Indian Coffee House (Sector 17, sec 14 and sec 36) is one of the most famous South Indian eatery franchise in the town that serves most authentic South Indian food. The popularity of this place is well defined from the fact that it remains jam-packed at all times and many a time people have to queue up for getting a table as well.
