About The Deal With Blackstone:

Elante Mall spread over 20 acres and it is the second largest shopping mall in Northern India and the eleventh largest in India. It attracts a large crowd from Chandigarh and also from the neighboring states on weekends. Previously, It was the property of L and T and they sold it to Carnival group and now Carnival is selling it to the Blackstone soon.  Now it is speculated that carnival group is selling it at Rs. 2200 crore, to Blackstone. If They will finalize this deal in this they will get 23%profit.

About The Blacstone:

The Blackstone Group L.P. is an American multinational private equity, alternative asset management and financial services firm. It is  based in New York City and largest alternative investment firm in the world. They specializes in private equity, credit and hedge fund investment strategies. This private eqiuty player Blackstone has invested around $6 Billion till now and again they are ready to invest to buy Elante Mall.

The downfall of malls in Chandigarh:

Elante mall is successful but most of other Malls in the Tricity are struggling for survival and there is a long list of the mall that is struggling but Elante is still staying tall. The list of malls is Centra Mall, the Fun Republic in ManiMajra, DT in IT Park and TDI in sector 17. There are some reasons of behind their struggle:

• Bigger players can afford to take the hit but smaller ones have to feel the heat.
• High rents are also a big problem they are facing.
• Limited brands in other malls are unable to attract clientele.
• There are not other entertainment sources and not attractive food outlets that the reason they are unable to attract customers.
• Many small malls are mushrooming that are only hit the business of other.

Why Elante still stands tall:

Elante mall in Chandigarh was set up by Larsen and Toubro 4 years ago by investing around Rs 1700 crore and this attractive hub has 235 retail outlets. In Chandigarh, there is a long list of the mall that is struggling for their survival but Elante is successful in Chandigarh and able to attract many people. There are some reasons behind  it:

• Capacity to accommodate 6000 cars in the parking area of the mall.
• You will get Full protection there because the place is choc-a-bloc with police.
• Engineering department worked day and night to manage the traffic.
• Attract more people because in Elante every brand is available, food outlets, and if you want to enjoy movies then everything is available there.
• You will get everything their like music, air conditioning and other fun activities every time.

In Elante daily footfall is about 38000 on Weekdays and 6000 on weekends that goes up to 1.5 lakh on festival days according to operating official in Elante.

The launch of the store was spearheaded by Bollywood actress Disha Patani. Disha Patani made her Bollywood debut with the movie Loafer. Speaking at the launch, Patani said that she is a huge fan of the brand. She further said that she was glad to be opening a store for it.

Also present at the event were various fashion bloggers from the city including Naaz Arora and Himani (of Fresh Face Beauty). The beauties of Chandigarh were also offered various inaugural discounts by the store. Free merchandise, vouchers- girls from the city grabbed their hands on exclusive merchandises available.

Vouchers were being distributed by the women security personnel at the entrance of the mall to all women coming into the mall.

Further, an online contest was also run by Amante’s Facebook page. The winners were supposed to meet the actress and also to be given exclusive gifts. However, it soon ran into controversy as the results were never announced by the brand.

Amante is an American lingerie brand and its store in Chandigarh is a part of their recent global expansion strategy. The brand particularly focuses on silhouettes for Asian women.

You know what that means right? The city people thronging Elante mall, of course! It is raining cats and dogs as you enter the mall. But you stop, just for a second, because the entrance looks so ravishing. It is a replica of the India gate in the capital city of Delhi. What makes it more beautiful is that it is adorned with the colours of the National Flag.

But that is not all. As you enter, you are in for a visual treat. There is sand art (Yes, SAND ART!!) that salutes our army persons. It also wishes the spectator a very Happy 68th Republic Day. It instantly reminds you of Sudarshan Patnaik, the famous sand artist of India. You think this is something he would do. But you are not on the windy beaches of Orissa, remember? You are in a mall. And this is just the beginning.

You look further, there is a cut out of the Indian map. It looks so breathtakingly beautiful that you simply cannot take your eyes off of it.

And then you look up. There are decorations up to as far as the eye can see. All of them in the colour of our beloved Tiranga, of course. Your heart swells with pride.

There are kids who are enjoying events related to the R-Day. There are games, music and fun but all painted in the colours of patriotism. You can either choose to revel in the beauty of it all or take selfies and pictures with your family. Or even choose to be a part of this celebration.

This is not just a “holiday” like cynics like to portray it. People may be out enjoying but that too, in the spirit of the country.

In that moment you realise, patriotism is not something you shove down the throats of others. Because it already is an inherent part of you, whether you realise it or not.
