The college has a beautiful campus with an aggregate of 12 blocks & 8 large lush green gardens. Though most teachers like Mr Khatra doesn’t let students miss their classes, still students have a neck of getting out anyway to hangout at college canteens and Laila majnu park. The proposal has been approved by the UT Higher Education Department of Chandigarh and soon a notification shall be sent to all the colleges for implementation. All the government colleges are expected to follow this rule for the blind students.

At present only Panjab University exempts the course fee for blind students in Chandigarh. The private colleges in the city to facilitate blind students by providing fee concessions and supporting them by Braille computers and mentors.

Report of Private Colleges in City

Dav College Report

The Dean of DAV College B K Vermani reported that there are 10 blind students in the college for various courses. The student has to pay only Rs 500 annually for his admission. the other expenses, including hostel fees, are borne by the college management. This is the policy for blind students by the college management.

GGDSD College Report

The principal of GGDSD College, Sector 32 Bhushan K Sharma, detailed that there are three blind students in the college. There is a special set up for these students where they have a mentor and computers with Braille software for academic support and other purposes. Though they haven’t received any information regarding this from UT Higher Education Department but still they do this for the students welfare.

So this is a great opportunity for all the blind students in the city, you simply have to enroll yourself and the expenses will be borne by the college management.
