The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals on 23^rd March 2024 is to be played in this newly constructed stadium. Not only this, the Punjab Kings have announced Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh as their new home venue.

Insights of first IPL Match at Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh

The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur, will host the home matches of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming T20 tournament. The Punjab Kings will play their first match at Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, 23^rd March at 3:30pm. Earlier the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali has hosted home matches of PBKS for over the years.

The new Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh has newly constructed top-class infrastructure along with all modern facilities. It can host a capacity of nearly about 35000 people and has well equipped parking for about 7000 cars. The stadium also has a well-managed drainage system, which helps in removal of water within 25-30 minutes after the rainfall. Instead of using traditional soil, the ground is made of sand which provides good stability. It has modern Flood lights, two international-standard dressing rooms having facilities for steam, sauna and ice bath. Also, a world-class gym has also been set up at this complex.

The Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh established in 2021. Since then, it was hosting few domestic matches. After the new construction it will now host the IPL Match of 2024. Furthermore, the international matches will also take place in this stadium soon. The PCA secretary Dilsher Khanna said, “The BCCI has approved the PCA Mullanpur Stadium for the upcoming IPL game on March 23. We are grateful to the BCCI secretary for showing faith in us. We want the fans to enjoy watching the game at the new stadium.”

Briefings of IPL 2024

Indian Premier League or Tata IPL 2024, is a twenty-twenty cricket league in India. The tournament consists of 10 teams, and the IPL Match will be played from 22^nd March to 26^th May 2024. IPL is organized and control by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The schedule of this season was announced previously.

IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal said, “this season’s schedule will be announced in multiple phases due to the 2024 Lok Sabha Election. The first announcement includes the schedule for the first 17 days, consisting of 21 matches. The opening match of the tournament will be played on 22 March 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The final match will be played on 26 May 2024.” Star Sports Network is the official TV broadcaster of the IPL Match and the official digital broadcaster is JioCinema app and website. The matches will begin at 7:30pm and during the afternoon matches, the timings will be 3:30pm.
