Rajanath Singh assures Housing scheme for UT employees in Chandigarh

The housing scheme which was announced nine years ago is now out to accelerate as the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is taking this matter into consideration. After the Rajnath Singh’s talk with Sanjay Tandon, the UT employees seem to a hope of getting houses soon. The UT Administration had sent the proposal last year to the Ministry of Home Affairs, however, the file was lying in the office for a year. And now, when Sanjay Tandon met Rajnath Singh at  Bhubaneswar, words marked by Rajnath was that if the file is in his office then he shall surely look forward to work for it. The city BJP chief has also been asked to meet MOS Home who takes care of UT to follow up in the case

The city BJP chief Sanjay Tandon has been invited to meet MOS Home who actually deals with UT for talking about this matter. Earlier in 2008, the Housing Board of Chandigarh had suggested a special housing scheme meant for the employees of UT. Approximately 4,000 flats for employees were expected to be constructed in Sector 52, 53 and 56. The main aim beyond this scheme was to lay out flats to employees the on no-profit-no-loss basis, which was much below the market value.

Well, there were no flats constructed as of non-availability of land. In a total of 8,000 employees had applied for this scheme in which only 3,930 employees were declared to get houses.

Details of the Housing scheme for UT employees

  • 336 three-bed room flats were to be built for employees.
  • 888 two-bedroom flats to be built
  • 564 one-bedroom flats to be built
  • 320 one-room flats were to be built
  • In total these flats were to built on 61.5 acres.
  • Houses were to be allotted on affordable prices.

All the government employees who are homeless or living on rent basis to get some relieve as the Union Home Minister to work on this Housing scheme for UT employees in Chandigarh.
